Environmental Responsibility

Our Triple Bottom Line Promise for Social Responsibility

Beyond Classroom Walls is committed to the triple bottom line philosophy of operating a socially responsible company while benefiting people, plant and profit.  We recognize that the therapy industry uses many materials and generates unnecessary trash. We are also committed to bridging a gap between neuro-typical people and people with disabilities.

  • People: To support students with special needs by creating opportunities to build skills with peers and to have more direct experiences in the community by blending special need students with neuro-typical peers and adults. The goal is to decrease fears by both populations and enhance understanding that students with special needs can be fully functioning and capable members of society by living in apartments and having gainful employment opportunities.  Many program changes have occurred across all groups where students will have more direct access in the community by having vocational experiences and more training outside of our facility by partnering with local community organizations.
  • Planet: Students will learn how to recycle and reuse materials as much as possible. Therapists are guilty of generating a lot of trash and using many resources to cook and do crafts in a therapy setting. Items that are appropriate to be reused will be saved.  Crafts that have been created can be dismantled and reused for other tasks. Lessons will include environmental points about conservation, recycling and reusing.
  • Profit: We are proud to announce that our company is growing and we thank the community for this opportunity. A goal to consider is to switch from a for-profit to a non-profit to generate additional funding sources to offer more families program opportunities through our “grouperships” scholarship program. We are currently working with community leaders to identify additional funding resources though grants and fund raising opportunities.
